Colonization is a strategy game created by Sid Meier and Microprose. It’s an old game but a very good one, it’s from 1994. If you like to colonize a new “world” then this is the game you are looking for. You can choose to start in America or a Random Map. There are four civilizations were you can choose from: England, Netherlands, France and Spain. They all have there own advantages, but you will find that out in the game.
You always start with a boat, soldier and pioneer. The boat lies just before the new world, so you just have to find a right place to embark and to make your first city. It is a good idea to make your city in the coastline, so the city can have a harbour.
With the boat you can now trade with your homeland. With the city you can make, trade and gather resources. And if you put them in the boat and you trade with the boat with your homeland, then you receive gold. Just watch the prizes and you know then how much gold you will get.

The Civilization Collection - A Classic Strategy Collection now Playable on Windows XP and VISTA!
Civilization I
Civilization is a classic, a cult game so to say. This is the game that started it all. The idea was brilliant and so was everything else in this game. It has a fantastic introduction while the number of units, civilizations to choose from, terrains, ways of negotiating is enormous. Shortened, everything you need for a good strategy game. In the beginning you get to choose your race (Romans, Germans, Americans etc.), level of difficulty and number of civilizations (they don’t neccessarily have to be opponents).
In the game itself you start with a settler which you use to build a city on a suitable spot (you will have help popups and if you take your time reading them everything should be pretty much simple). Once you build your city in it you can build units and different buildings, you also get to start discovering different things, starting from basic ones such as the wheel. The goal is to build a spaceship and send it to Alpha Centauri. Once you have done that, you win the game. After that you can either end the game or continue playing until you defeat all other civilizations.
Civilization II
You start out yr. 4000 B.C. with a small group of settlers and a covered map. First thing you need to do, is to find a good location where to place your first city. From there you have to develop the land and research new technologies. As the game progresses you also have to start building an army, to defend yourself from any neighbors with hostile intentions.
You can face up to 6 computer-controlled civilizations during the game, and each of them has their unique behavior. Any actions you take towards one of them, might give you a bad reputation, making the others less friendly towards you, and if you are really careless, they will start forming alliances against you. You have several difficulty levels, ranging from very easy, to the once where the computer actually cheats.
